Woodbridge’s baseball team opened the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs with a 3-1 victory on the road Friday afternoon against Paloma Valley

The Warriors (20-7) move on to the second round Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at Ryan Lemmon Stadium against top seeded St. John Bosco, which defeated ML King, 3-2, Friday.

Scott Armstrong pitched a complete game scattering five hits for Woodbridge, the PCL’s second place team.

“It was a strong pitching performance from Scottie who only needed 65 pitches, and great defense was the difference today,” Woodbridge Coach Tim Murray said on his way back from Menifee.

Jackson Lyon and Caleb Anderson both made excellent defensive plays with diving plays in the outfield, according to Murray.
“Towns King and Will Rudy made 11 outs up the middle,” Murray said.
